Wallis State Bank Privacy Notice

Wallis State Bank would like to assure our consumer customers that we do not sell nonpublic personal information.

We recognize the importance of your privacy and the confidentiality of your financial information. This notice is designed to inform you, a customer of Wallis State Bank, about the following:

  • The kind of information we collect
  • The kind of information we share
  • Who we share information with, and when we share it
  • The systems and procedures we have in place to keep your nonpublic personal information secure

 

The Kind of Information We Collect

In the normal course of our business relationship with you, we collect various kinds of information from different sources:

  • Information that we receive from you in written, oral, or electronic applications for our products and services
  • Information we receive from other parties, for instance: in an ACH transaction,a credit or debit card transaction, or when we verify information you provide on an application
  • Information we generate internally from our transaction experiences with you
  • Information that we receive from consumer credit reporting agencies

The Kind of Information We Share

We may share the following information:

  • Name, address, social security number
  • Loan balance
  • Loan collateral information
  • Loan payment history
  • Deposit balance
  • Overdraft history
  • Check verification information

Who We Share With, and When

We will not share any information about customers or former customers with nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law. A nonaffiliated third party is an organization outside our corporate family. Our corporate family is any company that we control, any company that controls us, and also any other companies controlled by that company. Currently, our corporate family consists of the Bank and one other financial service provider, our wholly owned insurance agency.

Occasionally, the law requires us to share information regarding customers and former customers with non-affiliates, as in the following circumstances:

  • A lawsuit, subpoena, or summons
  • Criminal investigations
  • Federal or State bank examinations
  • Levies or garnishments

In our everyday function of providing quality bank services, we are permitted to share information with non-affiliates to complete a transaction or maintain an account. In daily operations, we share with the following:

  • Federal Reserve System
  • Credit reporting agencies
  • ATM/debit card network
  • Credit card processor
  • Entities involved in ACH transactions
  • Internet Banking service provider
  • Attorneys, appraisers, title companies
  • Data processor

When our customers write a check to a third party, we will respond to an inquiry from that party to verify if there are sufficient funds in the account to pay the check.

We share information within our corporate family. We believe that our insurance agency can offer products or services that would benefit you. We want you to have the opportunity to learn about the products and services that would best fit your needs. We may share with the agency your name and address, and also information about your transactions with us, such as deposit or loan balances, loan histories, and collateral.

These examples illustrate with whom and when we share information, and are not intended to describe every situation. Remember that Wallis State Bank does not sell customer information. We share information only as permitted by law.

Keeping Information Secure

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect your nonpublic personal information. We educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.

About Privacy and the Internet…..

When you visit our website to view any pages, read product information, or use our online calculators and tools; you do so without giving us any information that identifies you personally. We use standard software to collect blind data for the strict purpose of monitoring activity and interest in our site. This allows us to determine how many people use our site and which pages and features are most popular. The only information we normally collect and store is:

  • The name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • The date and time our site was accessed
  • City, state, and country
  • The page or pages you requested

There could be instances where you may decide to provide us with personally identifying information. If you fill out one of our applications or request forms, or send us e-mail, you are transmitting the information you have included in these forms or messages. This could be information like your name, mailing address, e-mail address, the kind or request you are making, and any other information necessary to fulfill your request.

You never transfer personally identifying information you do not enter yourself. This is always your option; this information cannot be collected unless you specifically elect to send it to us. This information is used internally only for the purpose of fulfilling your request or for contacting you directly. We will not share this information with any other organization unless it is necessary to complete a transaction, or required by law.

When you submit to us an application or request form you complete on our website, the information is encrypted, or scrambled, by your browser before it is transmitted to us. This effectively prevents anyone from intercepting and reading any personal information about you.

Please note, "E-mail messages are NOT encrypted." You should be very cautious when sending e-mail containing personally identifying information about yourself or your account relationships. In view of this, you may elect to communicate this information in another way, such as by mail or telephone.

Our website and portal have a number of links to other websites. These links are offered as a courtesy and a convenience to our customers. Merchants on these websites may collect certain information from you when you visit their sites or when you provide them billing or shipping information. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third parties for an explanation of how your information will be used.

Our website is not targeted or marketed to children.

How to File a Complaint

The Wallis State Bank is chartered under the laws of the State of Texas and by state law is subject to regulatory oversight by the Texas Department of Banking. Any consumer wishing to file a complaint against the Wallis State Bank should contact the Texas Department of Banking.

The Wallis State Bank also engages in the money transmission and/or currency exchange business as an authorized delegate of American Express under Chapter 151 of the Texas Finance Code.  After first contacting American Express, a customer that still has an unresolved complaint regarding the company’s money transmission or currency exchange activity should direct the complaint to the Texas Department of Banking.
